Defrost Studio is a creative studio where visual storytelling, cultural exploration, and social issues converge. Based in Amsterdam, the studio specializes in visual narratives that address pressing social topics such as migration, identity, and marginalized communities amongst others. Defrost Studio was founded in 2016 by Maria Ghetti and Marco Tiberio.
Maria Ghetti (Italy, 1988) is a visual artist and curator whose work explores the intersections of storytelling, trauma, and resilience in minority groups. With a background in architecture and design, her career spans editorial and curatorial roles, notably with GUP Magazine, and includes collaborations with major European photography festivals.
Marco Tiberio (Italy, 1988), a photographer and visual artist, brings a unique perspective shaped by his studies in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cultures and European Studies. His work often examines themes of migration and racism, infused with his expertise in media communication and languages. Trained in documentary practices, Marco’s approach to storytelling combines rigorous research with compelling visuals.
